HEGO Stainless Steel & Aluminum becomes part of international consortium.

Company ready for the next phase of growth under a strategic market party.

Almere, Thursday February 15, 2024 – Stainless steel and aluminum wholesaler and processor HEGO from Almere becomes part of an international consortium. As part of the group that has warehouses in several European main ports and also owns renowned trader Swedinox, HEGO can further strengthen its international growth ambitions and improve its European market position in metal processing.

HEGO was founded in 1977 by the family Gort. The company has a wide assortment stainless steel and aluminum products directly available from its own stock. Next to that it has its own service center. After the company was bought by value-add investor Globitas Capital in 2020, the company was further professionalized. Together with a new management team the company’s operational efficiency improved enormously. In recent years, the order process has been digitalized, and logistics processes have been optimized, partly after the introduction of new systems.

With this professionalization, the company is ready for the next growth phase. “As a traditional steel family, we have followed HEGO for some time. The company has undergone impressive development in recent years and is an interesting party to add to our portfolio. This portfolio can offer HEGO synergies and additional market knowledge, further shaping its international growth ambitions and increasing sales volumes. Conversely, HEGO’s specialized knowledge and expertise in metal processing are valuable to our family business. We have a bright future with HEGO in our midst,” declares the new owner.

“Together with available knowledge and experience of our owner Globitas, we have been able to develop HEGO further in recent years. Steel trade is a highly specialized industry. With our operational efficiency plans completed, this is a logical moment to grow further under a new partner. The fact that the new owner has chosen HEGO is something everyone within our company is proud of,” says the CEO Laurens Blok.
