Globitas Capital announces the prelaunch of its Turnaround Opportunity Fund, to be led by Christiaan Podt

Investor Globitas Capital announces the prelaunch of its Turnaround Opportunity Fund, marking an important next step in the firm's investment activities. The initiative builds on Globitas' established track record in complex investment situations, combining financial expertise, operational capabilities and an entrepreneurial approach to value creation. Globitas has welcomed experienced restructuring professional Christiaan (Chris) Podt as a new partner to lead the initiative.

The fund will focus on investment opportunities involving upper SME and mid-market companies, primarily through debt positions. The fund retains the flexibility to invest across the capital structure as opportunities arise, with downside protection and capital preservation at the core of its approach. Its investment strategy is designed to be countercyclical and to offer low correlation with public markets, providing future investors with potential diversification benefits.

A key differentiator is Globitas' independent, hands-on and multidisciplinary investment team, based in Amsterdam and Spain. Working closely with management teams, Globitas combines expertise across investment management, financial restructuring and operational transformation to develop tailored solutions. The ambition is to bring a differentiated investment approach to the upper SME and mid-market segment, offering flexible capital solutions and active involvement in navigating complex financial situations.

The initiative also marks an important milestone for Globitas, as it looks to open its investment activities to external investors for the first time. Strong alignment of interests will remain central to the fund's philosophy, with management and team members investing their own capital alongside external investors.

Christiaan Podt to lead the fund

Globitas Capital is delighted to welcome Christiaan (Chris) Podt, who will lead the development and management of the Turnaround Opportunity Fund.

Chris brings extensive experience from ABN AMRO, including senior leadership roles in Financial Restructuring & Recovery, where he was involved in complex financial situations and corporate restructurings. He was also a founding board member of the Dutch Restructuring Association. His experience and networkwill be instrumental in shaping the fund's future.
